Catherine Tait’s “dream job” is now a reality. Yesterday, Tait became the first female president of the CBC (Canadian Broadcasting Corporation).

Who is Catherine Tait?

60-year-old Tait has a solid resume and over 30 years of experience in the Canadian and international film and television biz. She was the president of Duopoly, an independent film, television and digital content company, and the founder of iThentic, a website that collects and distributes web series and video shorts. As CBC President, Tait plans to highlight local stories about women, new Canadians, Indigenous Peoples, and LGBTQ communities. Tait's friends think she’s exactly what the CBC needs. But her critics don’t feel the same way, calling out her close ties to the Liberal Party as the reason she landed the job. In 2016, the Trudeau government promised the CBC $675 million of funding over five years, after years of cuts to the broadcaster. Tait begins her five-year term this summer.
