You've seen her everywhere - from the runway at New York Fashion Week to her CoverGirl commercials. Maye Musk, model and dietitian, is in her seventies but she looks *damn* good. What's her secret?
Maye told Well + Good, "“I’m confident when I know I’ve eaten well, and I’ve slept well, and I’m dressed nicely, and I have my basic makeup on." It's hard to disagree with her on that! Here are her top 3 beauty and lifestyle tips you'll want to start following ASAP:
1. Protect your skin from the sun
We all know we need to use SPF and rock a sun hat to prevent sun damage on our skin, but Maye's top tip is to avoid the sun all together. "Stay out of the sun," is Musk's number 1 piece of beauty advice. No wonder she always looks so good! If you follow her advice, make sure you're getting your daily dose of vitamin D through food and supplements.
2. Choose the people you spend time with carefully
“Your confidence gets knocked out of you many times in your life, and you just have to push through it and meet people who are nice and help you move forward,” Musk says. As for those who don’t support you, she says, “if you’re in a personal or work relationship that is negative, then you need to move on.” It’s as simple as surrounding yourself with positive influences.
3. Find your staple beauty look and let it guide you.
Though the model experiments with makeup for her shoots, Musk says she feels best with simply foundation, eyeliner, and clear nail polish. “I’m currently loving the new TruBlend Matte Made [foundation] because it feels so comfortable on the skin and wears perfectly for my long hour shoot days,” she says. For her eyes, she swears by a quick dash of CoverGirls’ Get in Line Eyeliner because of its super-fine tip. And finally, to keep her nails strong (and give them the slightest sheen) when she’s not “doing a fabulous color for a photo shoot or red carpet,” she adds a clear coat of Nail Tek. This look is *timeless*, so Maye is obviously doing something right.
